The shaft for my bush hog where the shear pin goes is wallowing out. I was wondering if anyone knows of dowels or sleeves you can get to weld it, or if ill have to take it to a machine shop. Also, i have a 1970s ford 4110 3 cyl gas. Im looking to do maintenance for the summer, 10w 40 is the oil i plan using, but i cant seem to find a filter on the tractor. Did they not have oil filters? Any help.is appreciated.

The round canister to the right in the 3rd picture has a filter inside....James

If you don't want to mess with the old style canister filter, spin on adapters are available, that use a common Ford filter.

If the shear pin is in a disc, a common bolt can be used to hold it together, then on the opposite side (180 degrees) a new hole can be drilled. The hole size must be .001 to .002 inches larger than the new shear pin. If the discs are separated at the 180 point, clamp them together firmly before drilling. Make sure the drilling is done perpendicular to the disc! Jim

My thought was to weld it closed then drill it out to the proper size. It progressivly stretched last year, it started out as a 7/16 head bolt, now its at a 9/16 head. So what 1/4 -3/8 now? I am looking at a new shaft for it, i found one on amazon its a vevor pto shaft, and it includes the clutch on the shaft.
