I split my 64 Super Dexta knowing I had some sort of single stage clutch problem. I was mowing some short grass and the machine was not in a bind. It just slowly stopped moving forward.
Once I got it apart I found that all of the spline teeth in the clutch disk were stripped and the spline hole is now basically just a smooth bore. The splines on the transmission shaft look ok.
Does anyone have an idea why it happened? I’ve read some articles about other tractor brands that say it just happens sometimes. I have no idea how many hours the clutch disk had on it but since I’ve had the tractor I’ve probably put at least 500 hours on it.
A second question. Does anyone know of a source in the USA for a complete 11” single stage clutch kit? I’m looking for a kit with the disk, bearings and alignment tool.
Yesterday's Tractor only shows a kit for a 9" clutch.
