Curious about a couple of tool finds

Here is the bench that was part of the deal too, it is an old safe door, the legs were very short for me, so a trip to the scrap pile and the "new" welder and they got longer! I've wanted a sturdy steel work bench for a long time and think this will do nicely.

That's exactly how it works! Not my first choice but it is in nice shape and works well enough for my needs.Thanks

that is the only type of rod holder(stinger) we have ever used here. I am 52 and those clamp type went out of use before I was 10-12 when I started welding.
