Hi y’all! From my research they only made 518 Phase 2, (slant steer) 320’s. However that number included both the Standard and Utility. Does anyone have any knowledge on how many of each they made. My dad and I are currently restoring one and I plan on taking it to a few shows. Just wanting to know for me and so I can tell others, rare tractor regardless. Thanks everyone!

Tractor data shows a total of 3,084 320's made........ 917 320U's & 2167 320S's. Don't seen any info on the number of slant steer being U or S.

Green Magazine says just over 500 slant steers in an article.
Johnny Popper says it was 518

What I have for the slant steer 320 tractors total factory built is 516.. With a break down of utilitys at 199 units and standards at 317 units.. All within serial-numbers for 1958..

Another rare John Deere 320 is the 320V, Southern Special .. Total factory built of 67 tractors.. Of these 48 were phase I and 19 were phase II.. The special was a modified 320 standard, but was at a lower cost and had a higher ground clearance, 10 inches taller than the 320 standard..

Another source of information could be:
John Deere Two Cylinder Tractor Buyer's Guide
by Robert N. Pripps
1992, 160 pages
Motor Books International
ISBN 0-87938-659-2

There are only two pages exclusively about the 320, but it covers 1914 to 1960 so it is an interesting little book.

I am curious as to how JD sold it cheaper than a regular 320S with more expensive rear rims and tires.
Plus special made front axle components? Did it have more row crop implement mountings, etc.?
Did they delete pto and/or the three point hitch parts?
