    F40 no spark. No go.

Probably a dumb question but I'm stumped . '57 F40. 12v conversion to alternator. Entire fuel system redone including relined the gas tank. New carb from Amz. (Old one had a crack in the bowl). New fuel lines. New fuel bulb. I had some grounding issues causing starter solenoid intermittently...

    F40 Trials and Tribulations

I'm about to give up and put this tractor (Ferguson F40) on DisgraceBook Marketplace. I don't know what else to do. 7 out of 10 times I can not get it to start. Once started 7 out of 10 times I cant keep it going when putting it in gear. Once it is running, and I can get it into gear without...

    F40 Gas Tank

Could anyone point me to a place to purchase a new gas tank for an F40? Red Seal worked ok for about 10yrs but I'm not going down that path again. I'm just going to call 76years out of one tank a good run. I bought a tank for a T035 but it is too wide for the F40 so I'm going to send it back...

    Stalls out, sputters, loses power.

I have an F40 that seems to be losing power. It will stall out 5 out of 10x's when engaging pto with brush cutter attached. Sometimes when just putting it in gear and releasing the clutch it stalls. Sometimes stalls when throttling up. What I've done: - replaced carb (yea with a cheap china...

Used some 5w30 oil in air cleaner... bad?

In a pinch, I had some used 5w30 oil that I ran in the oil cleaner. Nothing bad happened..The grass was so thick and seedy that I knew the oil needed to be replaced after a day of mowing. Was too lazy to run to town...and well, I had 10qts of used 5w30 sitting there to recycle. I'm guessing...

Gas dripping from air intake of carb

I have been battling repeated start issues on my Ferguson F40. Today thought I'd try again and after a couple of cracks at it, I smelled gas. It would not start. I noticed that gas was coming out of the air intake side of the carburetor. I'm assuming that means somethings not working inside the...

    Rebuild carb problem

Was trying to rebuild the old carburetor and this piece would not come out. Tried to use a screwdriver but the brass got all gnarled and then I just kept going after it thinking I would get it out. Then it made me mad and I wouldn't back down. ...But still have not been able to remove it. Tried...

    Alternator mounting TO20 pics?

I bought a kit to mount a 1-wire alternator on the to-20 but there's no instructions or pictures and I haven't found any YouTube videos to match. Best I can tell is I may need to get creative but the seller said it was a direct fit with included kit. Any help would be appreciated (pictures...

    Gorilla Taped rims.. lol

Don't forget to inspect the wheels when buying a used tractor....or else you might discover all of the sudden that your wheel was held together with Gorilla tape.

    Allis Chalmers Rake bushings?

I made a post a couple days ago and we figured out what rake this is but now I need to find some parts and pieces for it. It's an Allis Chalmers with the pto feature. Has the tedder, low, and high gears. For starters, pretty much every bushing is shot... Completely missing the bushings. I'm...

Homemade Zane Thang not working - TO20

So, I built a homemade Zane Thang using some designs on the forum. Everything seems to be constructed pretty close to the instructions. Broke a bolt off on the lift arm trying to mount the offset box, so that slowed me down some. ( FYI, that bolt is 7/16" 20 on the thread size and 1" long)...

    Incontinent rear end - TO20

So I'm debating on whether or not I should fix this or let the slow drip continue and just keep topping it off. I think it's run this way for a long time. What is the requirement to fix something like this?

    USB ports and voltmeter

Now I don't have to carry a battery pack when I'm mowing. Never fails that my battery runs out halfway through a movie when I'm mowing. This post was edited by xfratboy on 09/14/2021 at 06:12 am.

    LED LIGHTS ?

Well I was really proud of my 20 inch LED light bar that I mounted to the front of the F40 tractor using some magnetic mounts. Unfortunately, a tree branch took it out fairly quickly before I noticed it, and the brush hog made quick work of the light bar. What is everybody else using for...

    1-Wire Alternator not steady voltage...

So I've been working on mounting up and installing a one wire alternator that the Local alternator and starter shop built me. I've got the single wire from the positive terminal of the alternator running to the LOAD side of the ammeter on the same terminal with the ignition key switch wire. The...

Newbie Dumb question.. 12v regulator needed?

If I am removing a generator in my f40 and installing a one wire alternator.... do I still need the 12V regulator? The kit I bought has a 3ohm on resistor but no instructions stating to remove the 12v regulator (square black box where all the wires are going into).

    F40 alternator mounting bracket?

I bought a one wire alternator from a local shop. The owner of the shop said I should be able to mount it after cutting some slots in the existing bracket. Well, no matter which way I twist and turn things I cannot get it to mount or lineup properly. Is there a kit or aftermarket product that...

F40 without charging system or alt conversion kit?

I have the Ferguson F40 and the generator is toast. I can run the tractor for a little while but eventually the generator starts burning and smoking and squealing. Aside from the hearing damage, I get just a little nervous that it's going to turn into a bomb and explode on me. The best I can...

    To20 Lift arms do nothing.

So, what's the diagnostic procedure on the lift arm if nothing happens when I move the slider up or down. Yes the PTO is engaged and spinning. Clutch released. In neutral. Capacity to highest mark on dipstick. Using 15w40 oil.
