Oliver 550 Diesel Puller?

Anybody built a 550 diesel to pull? I have seen a couple super 55's on the track but no diesels. The tractor I am thinking about building has the old style injection pump so not sure what kind of issues i may run into there. i bought the tractor cheap to restore it. was thinking while i was in the engine if there is anything to do for power now would be the time

You are up against a few basic limitations. One of the first ways to increase poawer with a gas engine outside of making it bigger is to increase compression. This doesn't get you anywhere with a diesel. With a diesel you increase fuel pressure and injector tip size but without a turbo that gets you only very limited results. You can advance timing but that is of course external.
