Brush on Primer and Paint?

Hi all,
I am planning to turn an old manure spreader into a mobile chicken coop but the paint on it has lead. I am planning to strip it down and put on new lead free paint. The spreader is not really going to be seeing very much action, just being pulled different places for the chickens. Is there a brush primer and machinery paint I could put onto the metal sides? Would this be the cheaper way to go?

Rustoliem sells lots of Iron Oxide (red) brush on primer + top coats. Lead paint = good. Red Lead was the best primer, ask a Merchant Seamen/ Navy guy. Just don't eat too much of it, or have your 3 year old son grind it off.
