    I wish people could put the proper distance between the 1010 and 1020. Other than the paint scheme and rubber tires they have nothing else in common! I do agree that there are no terrible issues with the 2020 engine.

    Just a guess from a distance but check the brake pedal switches. If one of them is remaining closed it can activate the MFWD I believe.

    '64 JD 3020 24V Diesel battery drain

    I had an issue similar to this on a 4020 a number of years back. John T who contributes here regularly, steered me to checking and cleaning the dust around the brushes/commutator in the starter. Worked great.
