861 PTO pops out of gear

I had a similar problem with a 961 PTO slipping out of gear. I had to do some work on the transmission and while I was there I fixed the PTO issue. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I did. The PTO is held engaged with a detent. If you remove the side cover with the PTO lever and...

    5000 SOS update

Congratulations. I did something similar back in the 1990's. Had an older Ford man in church tell me that was the only thing I ever did that impressed him. I think he was kinda kidding.... Edit to say: I still have the tractor and use it often on my fruit farm.

    Hydraulic Remote Valve

Thanks Take your measurements here: https://www.theoringstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=367_2203 and I'm sure you'll be able to match up the o-ring. What is the nature of the 'backup ring'? Looks fibrous.

    Hydraulic Remote Valve

I'd be interested in seeing the springs associated with the levers - I have one of these and the springs are apparently broken and the lever will fall down under its own weight and bad things happen. I have the levers propped up on a piece of foam right now. There's been more pressing things to...

Ford 641 Carburetor Float, Has Me Pulling My Hair!

I have taken to tapping the new inlet valve a few light taps with a plastic hammer to help form the viton valve to the seat. Seems to help.

    5000 SOS update

Very good. I had found them with a search last night, but didn't see any indication they would have SOS parts. I will bookmark their site.

    5000 SOS update

I see that part number available from CNH, I don't find any 'John's Tractor' in Indiana that has SOS parts.

How did the ring break? Expanding it to place it on the shaft?

    Carburetor mounting bolts size to30

There should be two studs, 5/16" NC X 1-3/16". If they are not in the top of the carburetor, check the manifold and see if they are captive there. They are too long to come out of the manifold if the nuts turn them out of the carb.

    Ford 3000 purchase (possibly)

OK - will you suggest to Gregster what tractor he should buy that doesn't have a clutch? Refer to the opening post.

    Ford 3000 purchase (possibly)

Gregster wants to move some snow with it, not farm 160 acres. Gregster is tired of operating a clutch. If it is operating properly, it will likely outlive him. As a buyer, I'd for sure use your points to beat on the price, but at this price level, the risk/reward is favorable. If the worst...

If it is currently working properly I would have no fear.

    New to me Franken-Fergie

Oil to the rocker gallery comes up thru a hole in the camshaft. This hole kinda 'spurts' oil for a fraction of a second each rotation. So it takes a while to get there and fill the shaft and start coming out the various orifices. It's adequate for what it's called to do. There's a channel in...

    NAA Radiator Replacement

All radiators are not equal. If you are going to parade your tractor a cheap one would likely be sufficient. If you are working the machine you want one with OEM cooling capacity. Take it to the radiator shop and see what they say. I've had a couple recored, and while more money than a...
