    Update on Thistle spraying

A few days ago I posted that I was going to spray some thistles. I went over and checked them and most were brown with a few yellow so I guess I got them some. Now in July after they (if any, and I figure there will be some) grow back after the first cutting of hay in that field, I'll spray...

    Vibrating vest

Thanks a bunch guys for the encouraging words. I had my 2 first 1/2 hour sessions yesterday. The therapist that fitted me said that it will take a few days to see any improvement with the vest so here's hoping

    Vibrating vest

I guess today I will be fitted for a vibrating vest to help my lungs clear. I'm told they work really well to get the crap broken up and out of there. With any luck it just might help me breathe better so I can continue to make hay this year again. According to my latest CT scan I have...

    2 4 D mixing

I ended up just putting 15 gaL on the thistle area and went outside the area as well just in case. I made 2 passes so I should have wetted it down pretty good. Now wait and see if it kills it or makes it grow LOL. I don't have any clover in that field just orchard grass. so I should be good...

    2 4 D mixing

Thanks so much, that's what I was wanting to know. I'll mix it tomorrow and hopefully get rid of some thistles. This will probably be my last year farming at all unless I can get to feeling better. Thinking seriously about having an auction and selling everything, but then I wonder what I...

    2 4 D mixing

I probably will not use it all on that field but I need to probably use that much as there are some other fields I need to spot spray some in . The mixture is what I'm really needing. I don't want to put too little mixture on nor do I want to overkill a whole bunch. It's about 3 miles over...

    2 4 D mixing

This may sound completely stupid, but up to and including last year a good friend of mine that had his applicators license would do any spraying I needed done. I know I don't need a license and I've read the folder on the jug, but for the life of me I cannot find how much 2 4 D to mix with60...

Welding rods left out in the rain

Years ago when I was learning to weld we used bare rod, no flux at all. It sure taught me how to keep the right arc length. I probably couldn't do that today, it was about 60 years ago and now I'm 76 and have a hard time even seeing the weld area.

I managed to make it to 3/4 century mark

Happy Birthday, I passed it last year. Glad we're both still above the grass

    Something doesnt look right

There is a what they call a John Deere orchard disc listed on marketplace in Virginia that has pictures and it looks like yours with the rear gangs connecte4d to the front ones like the folks are telling you. You might want to check market place out and see them,

    My local feed mill

At one time we had 4 mills here, now they are all gone and we have to travel around50 miles for an actual feed mill on one of the most dangerous roads US35 in West Virginia (lots of deer accidents). I was an Auctioneer on the last one to go out here in Pomeroy, Ohio when they sold out over 25...

    Spraying weeds with boom sprayer.

I don't know what Scotch Broom is, but if it's like the broom grass we have here, you need to take some soil samples to your county agent and see how much lime you need to put on per acre and that will probably take care of it and make the whole 10 acres produce a lot better. You will probably...
