PTO housing help
I had the exact same problem when I upgraded to the 1 3/8 shaft. I could have taken the time to grind that ridge down a little but didn’t. I was able to get about two threads started on the bolts and then I slowly tightened them in a cross pattern and it drew the PTO shaft in. Now, I don’t know...- Jim in LA

Alternator adjustment bracket
Your going to need some more brackets. Look at 8n parts on this site and check out the electrical system section, there are several different mounts and top brackets for 8Ns. I think you need the one that bolts to the right front corner of the head. Search Google and also look at YouTube videos...- Jim in LA

Anyone attempted to use JD's new parts site?

fixing ford 8ns
1951 8N I bought required the following just to get it running to see what all it did need: All new valve train,starter,wiring harness,points,condenser,rotor, and cap. ATV/lawn mower hydraulic lift
I have one of the Harbor Freight lifts I bought about eight years ago. Only cost about $70 back then. Only problem lifting my Gravely ZT is just before max lift the very back of the mower is touching the floor. Does not do that with tractor style mower. -

Oil coming out of dipstick tube, oil fill tube smoking
I named my ‘51 8N “Smokey” after I got it running.That thing starts emitting smoke out the breather within 20 seconds. John Deere 80.
Replaced the PTO assembly in our 560 years ago and that thing was heavy. Strapped it onto a floor jack and wrangled it in there. I thought that was an Ertl pony in the background and then noticed the exhaust stack, air cleaner and lift handle and realized it was the real thing.- Jim in LA

What do you know about railroads
Have your local Ag agent come out and look at it. This is a safety issue(potential washout and derailment in the future)You may have to get your state environmental department envolved or feds if RR ignores you. What they did should have an immediate adverse effect on the safety of that...- Jim in LA
